Come and enjoy a wonderful holiday event hosted by the Greenwich Conservatory of Classical Ballet, featuring Divertissements from the Nutcracker, performed by the GCCB corps de ballet dancers (boys and girls ages 5 - 18). The Nutcracker is the most beloved of all family and holiday ballets. It is a signature musical creation by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky with ballet choreography by Marius Petipa, and has been thrilling audiences since its premiere in 1892. To learn more about the Nutcracker, CLICK HERE , and read about its rich history courtesy of the Petipa Society. Get into the holiday spirit by clicking on the audio box below and enjoying the powerful and memorable sounds of the Nutcracker overture (or if the music preloaded on your device, the audio control will allow you to turn off the soundtrack). Our Winter Showcase performance will be choreographed by GCCB faculty Liudmila Polonskaya. Ms. Polonskaya is a graduate of the world famous Vaganova Ballet Academy, where she was a teacher for five years, and she earned masters degree in classical ballet pedagogy also from the Vaganova Academy. She has an exceptional artistic eye and choreographic talent, and her passion is developing children and students into sophisticated ballet artists. In addition to the ballet performance, GCCB is hosting the exceptional Greenwich Academy Madrigals to delight our families and guests with holiday inspired music for the second act of our production.
