Drawing from classical ballet and modern dance, classes are designed to exercise proficiency in floor work, contractions, spirals, jumps, turns and intricate musicality and spacial concepts. Dancers in the Conservatory’s contemporary classes will learn basic elements of choreographing and improvisation as well as the opportunity to create a pice of original choreography.

In 2019, The Conservatory’s pre-professional trainee, Mirin Hirano, won first place at the Jewels Competition in the senior’s division.

In the 2019-2020 school year, the Conservatory’s contemporary class dancers will have the ability to perform original contemporary works in studio, and at local venues such as the Bruce Museum. Each summer, GCCB also hosts a Contemporary Workshop to build skills and expand the students’ contemporary performance experience and abilities.

Our 2019-2020 Contemporary Classes are held on: TUESDAYS, 5:30 - 6:30 PM & FRIDAYS 6:30-8:00PM. Click here to register for Fall Contemporary Classes.
