After taking adult ballet classes at various schools in New York and Connecticut, I was eager to try classes at the Greenwich Conservatory of Classical Ballet. Unlike in other schools, where I could barely keep up with the routines—never even learning how to hold my arms properly, because I was always focused on my leg movements—training at GCCB has helped me in just a few months to build a strong foundation and execute ballet moves properly.

The instructors are always methodical and break down the movements well. We do not rush through a class to include as many moves as possible, but the instructors are careful to pause when needed to explain the intricacies of the movements. I also receive proper corrections in a tactful manner to improve my moves during the classes, which helps me master the technique. I enjoy the enthusiasm, passion, and dedication of the instructors. And, the students are supportive of each other, which creates a great sense of community. If you really want to learn proper technique and have an effective whole-body workout, this school is for you.

Ballet classes and barre workouts are ‘excellent’ for non-dancers, says Rebeccah Rodriguez, once a professional dancer and now a physician at the San Diego Sports Medicine and Family Health Center. Upper-body strength, core strength improved flexibility and posture are among the benefits of ballet, she says.
“I treasure the moments when I am taught to move beautifully and feel elegant when dancing ballet.  I apply these skills not just in ballet, but in many facets of my life, and after each class, I feel empowered, confident, and beautiful.”
